Job summary

The Chemistry Teacher will be responsible for delivering high-quality Chemistry instruction to Senior Secondary students, developing their conceptual understanding, practical laboratory skills, problem-solving abilities, and readiness for internal and external examinations such as WAEC and NECO.

Responsibilities

  • Plan and deliver well-structured Chemistry lessons in accordance with the approved curriculum and school schemes of work.
  • Develop students' understanding of fundamental Chemistry concepts, principles, theories, laws, calculations, and their practical applications.
  • Conduct appropriate laboratory experiments and practical activities that reinforce classroom learning.
  • Ensure strict compliance with laboratory safety procedures and maintain a safe learning environment during practical sessions.
  • Prepare students effectively for WAEC, NECO, and other relevant examinations through appropriate revision, past questions, practical preparation, and examination techniques.
  • Assess students regularly through classwork, assignments, quizzes, tests, practical activities, projects, and examinations.

    • Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Chemistry, Education/Chemistry, or a closely related field from a recognised institution.
  • Relevant teaching qualification such as PGDE, NCE, or equivalent is an advantage.
  • Strong knowledge of Senior Secondary Chemistry curriculum and examination requirements.
  • Good practical laboratory skills and knowledge of laboratory safety.
  • Ability to teach Chemistry calculations and practical topics effectively.
  • Strong classroom management and student engagement skills.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
